Positive dog training means rewarding and praising your dog for good behavior instead of punishing your dog when it does not behave. You can reward your dog when it obeys with doggie treats, praise, affection or something else your dog enjoys.
Using positive reinforcements when dog training makes your dog eager to obey and learn. Dogs are eager to please their owner and getting praise makes them want to continue obeying.
Let’s say you are teaching your dog to sit. Point to the ground, firmly say sit, and wait until your dog sits. Do not push your dog’s behind to the ground to teach your dog what you want and what “Sit” means.
Wait for him to do it on his own, as he will naturally, and repeat the word “sit” and then give him a treat and some praise.
When your dog fails to sit, don’t yell or punish the dog. When he does sit, give him positive reinforcement. Carry around some doggie treats and when your dog sits, be sure to give him a treat so he knows he did something good and will want to sit when he’s commanded.

If your dog loves to play then you can show him a good reaction after he obeys by playing catch with him. You can also have a favorite toy for him to play with when the good deed is done.
Be sure to reward your dog immediately after obeying so he will know what he’s doing is a good thing.
This will encourage him to do it more and after being done on a consistent basis, he will get the gist of it.
Of course this means you have to be consistent with positive dog training. You have to remember to always give treats upon correct reaction. You must praise him like “Good boy” and rub him around the ears and on the belly.

Never, ever yell at him. I know it seems easy to just yell and it may even be a natural reaction on your part. However, you must try to refrain from doing this.
This will only cause the dog to get confused and he may even start to react to the negative reactions in a negative way by continuing to do what is not correct.
For instance, if your dog is a biter and he keeps biting even after you command him not to and you yell at him. He may now continue to do this because he knows you will at least yell at him and show him some kind of attention.
However, if you ignore him, he will eventually learn not to bite as there are no rewards, praises or attention.
Remember, dogs love any attention whether positive or negative.
